  1. Find your MP by entering your postal code on Parliament’s search page.
  2. Ask for a meeting. Write to your MP’s office and tell them what you want to discuss. Here’s a template.

Subject: Constituents request meeting

Body: Dear [Mr/Ms Name],

I am writing to request a meeting to discuss Bill C-11 on behalf of several of your constituents. [Note the number of people requesting the meeting and relevant organizational affiliations.]

Please let us know when [MP’s name] could make time to speak to us, either in person or virtually.

Sincerely,

[Name], on behalf of [all the names of the people ]

3. Prepare your notes. Read some of the documents below so you can make the case for a not for profit definition of community media in the Act.

4. Ask for something that they definitely do, and get a firm commitment. That could include:

  • Speaking to Heritage Minister Rodriguez
  • Speaking to their colleagues who sit on the Heritage Committee
